LUNCH & LEARN: Spring Wildflowers – Quick, Quick, Slow
Join us for a presentation by Irvine’s Master Gardener, Clare Walker, PhD, plus enjoy a catered lunch from ACE Catering and guided tours of the Woodland Garden.
In early spring, our woodlands are filled with the beauty of our spring ephemerals. The name ephemeral comes from their fleeting appearance as they push out of the still cold soils, bloom and then disappear within just a couple of months. Yet, although their life above ground appears brief, many of these flowers are extremely long lived, growing slowly below the surface. Discover the incredible adaptations that allow this combined ‘hare and turtle’ existence.
After the presentation, participants can explore Irvine’s Woodland Garden to see many of the species in bloom.
