Fall Nature Excursion:
Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge
First in a NEW SERIES of Quarterly Day Trips! Spend the day with other nature lovers, traveling together in the Irvine mini-bus to explore some of the Mid-Atlantic’s best wildlife hotspots.
For this first excursion, we will witness the beginning of fall waterfowl migration, when tens of thousands of ducks, geese, and swans descend upon the tidal marshes of Dorchester County. Blackwater is one of the very best sites on the East Coast to witness Bald Eagles and one of the last strongholds of the rare Delmarva Fox Squirrel. The day will include a visit to the nearby Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitors Center and will end with dinner at a seafood restaurant in the Kent Narrows area.
Bring binoculars (Irvine has a limited supply to borrow), cameras, a bag lunch, and comfortable walking shoes.
