Indigenous Peoples' Day Event

Visit Irvine’s re-created Native American site to learn more about Maryland’s first people. Families can learn about pre-colonial American Indian culture in the eastern region with hands-on activities and demonstrations of traditional skills. Help with the harvest of our 3 sisters garden, grind corn, throw an atlatl, try your hand at starting a friction fire, make cordage and more. American Indians have made, and continue to make, lasting contributions to our nation in every arena. Help celebrate their achievements and learn about just some of their history.

Throughout the day there will be  demonstrations of traditional cooking methods, friction fire making methods, corn pounding and grinding, turning pelts into buckskin, clay beads and pots, making cordage and more!
