An Intimate Photographic Look at the Wildlife of Maryland through the Lens of a Camera and the Eyes of a Naturalist
Take an intimate and close-up photographic journey, seeing and enjoying the diversity of wildlife in the Piedmont and Coastal Plain of Maryland. Frank will share the often-amusing stories behind someof his photographic pursuits, along with some interesting natural history of each of his critter-subjects. With over thirty years of experience teaching and snapping nature photos, Frank provides an evening of visual wonder and educational entertainment.
In his own words, Frank Marsden “began my photographic journey about 1995 by taking photos of wildlife and the sights at Eden Mill Nature Center (in Harford County) as a way to share what I would observe with the volunteers at Eden Mill. I have always wanted to share with others my adventures and joy of seeing wildlife during my travels. Along with the numerous opportunities for wildlife observation and nature photography at Eden Mill, I have had the good fortune to lead backcountry canoeing trips to Algonquin Provincial Park in Canada, the Allagash River in Maine, and trips in the Adirondacks. I have helped lead numerous excursions to Wyoming and Costa Rica, and during all of these adventures, my camera has rarely not been in my hands, and has been an extension of my eyes and mind……
My camera is part of me, hiking, driving, walking out of my house, or even walking my dog. A large portion of my shots are of wildlife that surrounds us every day and is available to all of us if we take time to slow down and look, and then snap away.
Photographing wildlife, teaching the art of nature observation, and sharing all of it have been some of the most rewarding parts of my life.”
