BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL: A Talk by the Nation’s Only African-American Waterkeeper
The fourth wall is a theatrical performance convention in which an invisible, imagined wall separates actors from the audience. This is often how conservation movements function too. They engage people of like mind and shared world view, but often struggle to connect with people outside of their circles. So, how do we make bigger, more inclusive and more effective circles? This talk shares lessons learned about how to make sure our conversations about race, class and the environment garner reality among the communities least served and most suffering.
