BREEDING BIRD ATLAS: FOR "FLEDGLING" CITIZEN SCIENTISTS

Summer is almost upon us and birds are busy setting up territories, building nests, and, soon, laying eggs for this year’s broods. Come find out how you can get involved in an exciting statewide CITIZEN SCIENCE project—the Third MD/D.C. Breeding Bird Atlas. Everyone from professional ornithologists to weekend birding fanatics to beginners who just love the outdoors will be venturing out into nature this summer in search of signs of nesting among any and all species of birds. Find out how you can take part in the field work—at Irvine or even in your own backyard—and contribute to the database, from which researchers study avian population trends in our state. Learn the basics of using Cornell’s eBird website, as well. Adults and 10+ are welcome!
